The UCCS Department of Mathematics has vibrant research groups in algebra, probability, and applied mathematics. It offers doctoral, master's, bachelor's, and minor degrees.
In the Ph.D. program students can specialize in the research areas represented in the department. Our master's program offers two separate degrees--the M.S. is focused on mathematics and applied mathematics, while the MSc is cross-disciplinary.
In the department's B.S. program, after completing a sequence of standard “core” courses, meant to provide an overview of mathematics, each student may choose one of the following specialized tracks: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, secondary teaching, and flexible. Minor degrees are available both in mathematics and statistics.
- The Department of Mathematics has formed a new research center: Algebras and Rings in Colorado Springs (ARCS)! This center is dedicated to promoting general mathematical research and scholarship, with a particular focus on the study of rings and algebras.
- We are delighted to welcome three new faculty members: Dr. Justin Cole, Dr. Jordan Nikkel, and Dr. Mark Tomforde!
